As the people in Texas and Louisiana are just now assessing the damages caused by Hurricane Harvey, Florida and the southeast states are getting ready for Hurricane Irma that is still a few days away.
Hurricanes are freaks of nature! My goodness, even a Category 1 hurricane can cause damage to trees and utility lines. This is not the time for us to shamelessly plug our business by telling you that we supply parts and accessories for bucket trucks. No, we will not do that.
But we can give you a brief primer on hurricanes and what the heck they are. As we said, they are monsters – freaks of nature. A hurricane starts out as merely an organized group of thunderstorms off the coast of Africa. It thrives in warm water, traveling west near the equator.
If an organized group of thunderstorms, a tropical depression, is going to develop into a hurricane, it first needs to spin around a low-pressure center. But, do you really want us to get into all that meteorological mumbo jumbo about how wind shear in the atmosphere can create the beginning spin needed to create the massive low-pressure center that is the eye of the hurricane? Or how in weather systems air always flows towards low pressure. We didn’t think so.
Suffice it to say, hurricanes are complex enough to confound meteorologists and fearsome enough to cause catastrophic flooding and massive wind damage.
Ok, you knew it was coming … Utility Equipment Parts offers parts for bucket trucks and cranes – machines that are essential to storm cleanup and restoration efforts. We also offer accessories like winch ropes, tow ropes, outrigger pads, bucket covers, and even things like chain saw holders and tool buckets.
We are sending good thoughts to all the people impacted by this season’s hurricanes! Thanks to NOAA/NASA for the graphics in this blog.
The “UEP” Guys We Know Parts!! And one of us is actually a meteorologist! 🙂
